CAP Debt Counselling is a unique in depth service that offers a FREE practical solution to anyone in debt.

A trained CAP Debt Coach from Chichester Baptist Church will visit your home with a volunteer.

Three visits will introduce the service, gather information and suggest options. See the Step by Step Guide below. The budgets and plans are manageable and sustainable empowering people out of poverty.

The Step by Step Guide

  1. Home Visit. If you live in our area, call CAP free on 0800 328 0006 to book an appointment for a CAP Debt Coach and Support Worker from the Chichester CAP Centre to visit you in your own home.

  2. An Effective Budget. The trained debt counsellors then work out a realistic budget for you that prioritises your essential bills. The CAP HQ team will negotiate affordable payments with each creditor and stop unfair interest and charges where possible. Your local Debt Coach will then visit you again to explain the budget and the plan to become debt free.

  3. The CAP Plan. In most cases a CAP Plan will be set up. It acts a bit like a simple bank account. You’ll make regular payments into the CAP Plan enabling CAP to distribute affordable amounts to your creditors. You can also build up savings through the plan.

  4. Severe Debt. If you are in severe debt then we can walk you through insolvency options, such as petitioning for bankruptcy. We can help you to fill out the forms and even attend court with you.

  5. Debt Free. You will use your CAP Plan to pay your bills and debt repayments until you are debt free.
