Bessie’s Story
Mrs Bessie Patterson was baptised at Marriott House Care Home. Bessie, aged 91, had asked to be baptised at a service that is held every month in the care home, where she lives.
The service is led by one of our Cedar Ministry teams which brings a worship service to those in care and nursing homes who otherwise would not be able to go to church. The service was led by Alistair McKitterick. The picture below appeared in the Chichester Observer together with the following quote from Alistair:
Our aim at Cedar Ministry is to share God's love and serve people in local care homes. Every second Sunday of the month we lead a church service at Marriott House, and last month we were surprised and delighted when Bessie asked to be baptised. The service was very well attended by residents and staff from Marriott House, and Bessie’s brother and niece were there to celebrate it with her. We want to see people find faith in God, grow strong, flourish and bear fruit right into old age, so it was wonderful to see Bessie respond in this way. Bessie has always contributed to our service through leading us in prayer, and it was a real privilege to baptise her surrounded by family and friends.
