Love your enemies

The command to love our enemies is arguably the jewel in the crown of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus promotes not just non-retaliation (Matthew 5:38-42) but active love (Matthew 5:43-48), a love he modelled himself, and a love that defines the very purpose for which we were made.
