1. What does the word ‘grace’ mean to you?

Read Ephesians 2:1-10.

2. The “But” of verse 4 is one of the great Bible preludes to some wonderful statements about God’s grace. To what problems, according to verses 1-3, is God’s grace the answer?

3. How is God’s grace made evident to us, according to verses 4-7?

4. Think about the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32, and some of the stories of grace from today’s message – Grace in Burundi, Hai and Lan in Three Seasons, John Newton. What does grace look like in these stories?

5. Read Ephesians 2:8-10 again. What is the place of ‘works’ in the Christian faith? Dallas Willard says, “Grace is not opposed to effort, but is opposed to earning.” How does that statement help us understand the place of ‘works’?

6. Which do you find harder – to be a receiver of grace, or a giver of grace?

Turn your reflections into prayers.
